To Our Community Members,

The Council de Manos Advisory Board is in collective support with the Council de Manos Board of Directors, who spent two years developing this protocol on how the organization can take action acknowledging accountability for any harm that takes place.

For several years, Council de Manos experienced a time of significant harm within the organization, including among our community members, as a result of the lack of resources and tools to handle conflicts.  Council de Manos recognizes and takes responsibility as an organization for the harm caused. From this emerged the need for individual, community and organizational accountability and hence the development of a new protocol for such situations. This protocol was created with the goal of holding a space to create healthier emotions from harm for current and future generations.

In the spirit of transparency, we want to share this tool with our community. Council de Manos, with the guidance of the new Advisory Board and the Board of Directors, is now implementing these specific procedures and practices effective immediately. You are welcome to replicate our model, although we ask that credit be given to Council de Manos, especially with all the hard work that went into the dialogues, training, and emotional aspects.

If you wish to express your thoughts, recommendations, or ideas on this matter, feel free to contact us at advisory@councildemanos.org .

In this together juntos,

Council de Manos
Advisory Board

Estimadxs miembrxs comunitarixs,

Junta Consultativa
