Timeline of Council de Manos

1991

In Washington, D.C., National Hispanic Council of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NHCDHH) was in the beginning stage to become an organization. There were 23 people involved, consisting of board members and supporters.

1992

On November 12-14, the Conference on "The Hispanic Deaf Experience: Unity & Strength" was held in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Angel Ramos and Susan Karchmer were the Co-Chairs. The program focused on three critical parts of the Hispanic Deaf Experience: Education, Community, and Family.

NHCDHH was officially established at the conference.

1994

NHCDHH's first national conference was held in Boston, Massachusetts.

1996

NHCDHH ceased to exist.
2005

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, National Council of Hispano Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NCHDHH) was established by Dr. Glibert Delgado. He became the first President of NCHDHH.
2007

NCHDHH's first National Conference, "SER," was held in Washington, D.C. and hosted by Latino Deaf and Hard of Hearing Association of the Metropolitan DC Area.

2010

NCHDHH's second National Conference, "Sordos Latino Orgullosos," was held in Chicago and hosted by Illinois Deaf Latino Association.
2011

On November 10-13, NCHDHH’s youth leadership retreat was held at Camp Isola Bella, Taconic, Connecticut. The program was led by co-facilitators, John Anthony Serrano and Ivy Velez.

2012

NCHDHH's third National Conference, "Knowledge is Power," was held in Austin and hosted by Texas Latino Council of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

2014

NCHDHH's fourth National Conference, "Si, Se Puede," was held in Albuquerque and hosted by New Mexico Hispanic Council of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

2015

NCHDHH renamed its organization to Council de Manos.

En Washington D.C., el Concilio Hispano National de los Sordos e Hipoacúsicos (NHCDHH) estaba en la primera etapa de ser una organización. Había 23 personas involucradas consistiendo en la junta directiva y sus simpatizantes.

Del 12 al 14 de noviembre, la Conferencia sobre "La Experiencia de los Sordos Hispanos: Unidad y Fortaleza" se llevó a cabo en San Antonio, Texas. El Dr. Angel Ramos y Susan Karchmer fueron los co-presidentes. El programa se enfocó en tres partes sumamente importantes de la Experiencia de los Sordos Hispanos: la Educación, la Comunidad y la Familia.

NHCDHH fue establecida oficialmente en la conferencia.


1994

La primera conferencia nacional de NHCDHH se llevó a cabo en Boston, Massachusetts.
1996

NHCDHH dejó de existir.

2005

El Concilio Nacional de Hispanos Sordos e Hipoacúsicos (NCHDHH) fue establecido por el Dr. Gilbert Delgado en Santa Fe, Nuevo México. Se convirtió en el primer presidente de NCHDHH.

2007

La primera conferencia nacional de NCHDHH titulada "SER" se llevó a cabo en Washington, D.C. y fue presentada por la Asociación de Sordos e Hipoacúsicos Latinos del Area Metropolitano de Washington DC.

2010

La segunda conferencia nacional de NCHDHH, "Sordos Latinos Orgullosos" se llevó a cabo en Chicago y fue presentada por la Asociación Latina de Sordos de Illinois.
2011

Del 10 al 13 de noviembre, el retiro de liderazgo juvenil de NCHDHH se llevó a cabo en Camp Isola Bella, Taconic, Connecticut. El programa se dirigió por los co-facilitadores John Anthony Serrano y Ivy Velez.
2012

La tercera conferencia nacional de NCHDHH, "El Saber es Poder" se llevó a cabo en Austin y fue presentada por el Concilio Hispano de Sordos e Hipoacúsicos de Texas.

2014

La cuarta conferencia nacional de NCHDHH, "Si Se Puede" se llevó a cabo en Albuquerque y fue presentada por el Concilio Hispano de Sordos e Hipoacúsicos de Nuevo México.
2015

NCHDHH cambió el nombre de la organización a 'Concilio de Manos'.
